HOPE J&J SEPR Fellowship
About J&J SEPR
The Scientific Evidence and Policy Research (SEPR) team within Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is a strategic, science-driven group dedicated to generating high-impact real-world evidence that informs healthcare decision-making across the United States. SEPR partners closely with cross-functional leaders to design and execute innovative research in health economics, outcomes research, market access, and policy – demonstrating the clinical and economic value of J&J therapies to payers, providers, patients, and policymakers. Combining rigorous analytic methods with strategic insight, SEPR operates at the forefront of evidence generation in industry, shaping value narratives, supporting access strategies, and advancing data-driven policy engagement in an ever evolving healthcare landscape.

From our Team
J&J SEPR Fellowship Sponsor
“This fellowship offers an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of real-world evidence, health economics, and policy, while gaining hands-on experience collaborating with cross-functional teams on questions that directly inform decision-making across the product lifecycle.” – Vivian Herrera, DDS, MPH
Current Fellow Perspective
“Through the Rutgers HOPE and J&J SEPR partnership fellowship, I’m gaining hands-on experience moving from question framing to analysis and clear communication of results. At J&J, I apply real-world data to inform how insurance design and benefit structure shape patients’ out-of-pocket costs, generating actionable insights for affordability and access decisions. I’m also gaining cross-functional exposure to new product value and evidence work, including how evidence strategy supports decisions across the product lifecycle. At Rutgers, I study survival trends and treatment initiation in non-small cell lung cancer using Medicare data. I am motivated to continue strengthening my HEOR and policy research skillset to support more transparent, equitable, and patient-centered healthcare decisions.” – Kwame Adjei, PharmD, PhD
