About Rutgers HOPE
The Rutgers University Center for Health Outcomes, Policy, and Economics partners with scientists, clinicians and stakeholders from academia, pharmaceutical, biotech, and other marketplace innovators to conduct interdisciplinary research that produces relevant, meaningful health outcomes, economic models and analyses to facilitate the adoption of cost-effective healthcare and improve patient outcomes.
Program and Structure
The Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy at Rutgers University, part of Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences, partners with Johnson and Johnson Innovative Medicine through the Scientific Evidence and Policy Research (SEPR) team to offer a fellowship focused on real world evidence, health economics, and outcomes research. The program provides interdisciplinary training through hands on industry research, academic coursework, and professional mentorship to prepare fellows for evidence based decision making across the pharmaceutical product lifecycle.
Fellowship Experience Includes:
- Designing and supporting real world studies focused on patient outcomes, health economics, and policy relevant evidence
- Conducting literature reviews, database analyses, and health economic and comparative effectiveness research
- Collaborating with cross functional industry teams while completing up to three graduate level courses through Rutgers

Application
Eligibility
- Advanced degree in health services research, public health, health economics, epidemiology, outcomes research, pharmacy, pharmacy administration, or a related discipline. PhD or ScD preferred.
- Background in pharmacy or medicine with experience in outcomes research, health economics, or closely related fields preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Application
Applicants should submit a current curriculum vitae, personal statement, three letters of reference, and official university transcripts. Applicants who completed a graduate or professional program within the past two years should include at least one letter from a faculty member who supervised their academic or research work.
